Social Security Disability in Orlando

The Federal Government has created two Social Security Disability benefit programs to help individuals who have become disabled and are no longer able to work.

Orlando claimants who have worked 5 of the last 10 years and paid Social Security taxes may be eligible to receive a monthly Social Security Disability benefit through the Social Security Disability Insurance program (SSDI). Social Security Disability Insurance in Orlando is for disabled or blind individuals under the age of 65 who have sufficient “work credits” which they have earned working and paying payroll taxes.

Claimants may be considered disabled and qualify for SSDI in Orlando if they have a severe mental or physical health condition which will not allow them to work for at least 12 continuous months. Orlando SSDI claimants may also receive Medicare coverage 24 months after the onset date of disability. Certain dependants of SSDI recipients may also be eligible to receive SSDI benefits in Orlando.

What if you have not worked or paid enough payroll taxes to be considered insured? Supplemental Security Income in Orlando may be awarded to claimants if the Social Security Administration decides they are disabled, blind, or aged (65 years or older), and their resources and income are below the federally allowable limits. Orlando Supplemental Security Income (SSI) claimants may also be eligible for Medicaid, in most states, at the time of approval.
